The date keeps moving
Every update sounds reasonable, but the finish line never gets closer.
The cost to finish is unclear
You know what has been spent, but not what it will take to complete.
Decisions pile up
Changes, approvals, and responsibilities get tangled with no clear record.
It is common, it is fixable, and you do not have to sort it out alone.
The fog is what happens when schedule, cost, and scope drift apart and no one can say what is actually true. It is common, and it is fixable.
What is happening
The completion date keeps moving, and every new date sounds reasonable.
Nobody can tell you what it will cost to finish.
Changes and decisions pile up without a clear record.
How it feels
You are second-guessing every update and unsure whom to believe.
You did not sign up to become a full-time project manager.
The project follows you home, and you just want the truth.
What we believe

The Easy Project Recovery service was built for owners who want the facts about their project and a sensible path to the finish line. We start by finding out what is true, then help you decide what to do about it.
Our rule is simple: diagnose before prescribing, verify before forecasting, plan before executing.

If nothing changes
Another month of drift can mean more carrying costs, more strained relationships, and fewer good options. None of that is a verdict on your project. It is simply a reason to get clear sooner rather than later.
Construction project recovery is the process of finding out where a troubled project really stands, then deciding the next step. It starts with facts: what is complete, what has been paid, what is left, and what is still undecided. With those facts, an owner can choose to continue, correct, replace, or pause.
Common signs include repeated schedule changes without clear reasons, payments running ahead of the work completed, changes that were never priced in writing, long gaps with no work on site, and communication that has gone quiet. One sign alone is not proof of a problem, but several together are worth a closer look.
Start with safety, then records. Confirm the site is safe and secure, take dated photos and video, and save every email, text, and voicemail in one place. Then gather your contract, change orders, schedules, invoices, and proof of payment, and review your contract's payment and change terms before signing anything new or making a large payment.
Divide what you have paid by your current contract total, then subtract your best estimate of percent complete. If you have paid 68 percent of the contract and the work is about 55 percent complete, you are roughly 13 points ahead. Being ahead is not automatically a problem, because deposits and materials can explain it, but it is worth asking for a written explanation.
Gather the signed contract and amendments, plans and specifications, approved and pending change orders, every version of the schedule, the budget or schedule of values, invoices and proof of payment, lien waivers, permits and inspection reports, insurance certificates, and your selections and orders. The Project Recovery Checklist lists each one and where to find it.
A change order is a written agreement to change the scope, price, or schedule of the work. A good one states what is changing, what it costs, what it does to the schedule, and who approved it before work begins. Your current contract total is the original amount plus approved changes, so unwritten changes make every other number uncertain.
Easy Project helps property owners understand their project, organize the facts, and plan next steps through education and project advisory. We are not attorneys, we do not provide legal, engineering, or financial advice, and we do not take sides against contractors. Our aim is to help owners make better decisions, which also helps good contractors succeed.
